Sutherland: An elderly man got caught up in a pretty serious situation. This 68-year-old, John Floydd, thought he was chatting with a 13-year-old girl online. But surprise! It was actually a member of a group called “Saving Children’s Future.”

During the court hearing, it came out that Floydd first reached out to the decoy, who was using the name Layla Bennet, back on January 5, 2024. What started as innocent chatting quickly took a wrong turn.

Even after being told she was just 13, Floydd kept sending messages. Things got really concerning when he started making sexual comments and even asked for a topless photo. Yikes!

Police got involved after receiving evidence from Lancashire Police. On February 6, they showed up at his home to arrest him. Floydd ended up pleading guilty to communicating indecently with a child.

Now, he’s waiting for his sentence, which is set for February 25. In the meantime, he’s been placed on the Sex Offender’s Register. It’s a tough situation all around.
