Stamford: A bridge survey is happening soon, and there will be some traffic changes. Four-way traffic lights will be set up around the town bridge. Water Street will also be closed to traffic during this time.
The survey is important for checking the bridge’s condition. Councillor Richard Davies from Lincolnshire County Council explained that they need to do waterproofing maintenance this summer. To prepare, they will use ground-penetrating radar to see inside the bridge.
This radar work will help them understand how the bridge is holding up. The survey is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, from 7 am to 5 pm, depending on the weather.
During the survey, traffic will be diverted along Barnack Road and High Street St Martin’s. Councillor Davies mentioned that scheduling the work on a Sunday aims to reduce traffic disruption.
Access to footpaths and properties will remain open as much as possible. This survey will provide valuable information for the upcoming maintenance work, ensuring the bridge stays in good shape for years to come.
