West Molesey: A local man is really fed up with the rubbish situation outside his flat. Michael Bartholomew, 33, says he and his kids have to climb over heaps of trash just to get out. It’s a real hassle.

He lives in a block of flats where the bins are always overflowing. Michael mentioned that their bins fill up way faster than the ones next door. It’s frustrating because the rubbish ends up blocking the entrance.

He shared that the area is supposed to be enclosed, but it’s a mess. Photos show piles of rubbish everywhere, and while some of it might be from the holidays, the problem is ongoing.

Michael has lived there for five years and has complained many times. He believes they need more bins or at least more frequent collections. It’s not just a holiday issue; it’s a constant struggle.

He’s even reached out to the local council and the housing management, but nothing has changed. Sometimes, he finds it hard to leave the flat because the bins are blocking the way. He worries about safety, especially in case of an emergency.

Recently, he had to get someone to move the bins that were pushed against the door. Plus, the smell is awful, and it’s attracting pests. He’s seen foxes around, and while there aren’t any rats yet, he’s concerned about what might happen.

Michael feels that with the rent and council tax they pay, they should expect better service. He’s hoping for regular maintenance of the bins and maybe some awareness campaigns on proper waste disposal.

A council representative acknowledged the issue, saying that refuse collection is their responsibility. They’re aware of access problems and are working on a solution. They’ve been in touch with residents to help improve the situation.

They also mentioned that they’ve sent contractors to clear the rubbish and will keep monitoring the area. It sounds like they’re trying, but for Michael and his family, it’s been a tough situation.
