NEW YORK: So, here’s the scoop. New York’s top court just shot down Trump’s bid to delay his sentencing for that hush money case. It’s set for Friday morning, and time is running out.

Now, the Supreme Court is basically his last shot to stop this whole thing. The judge, Justice Juan Merchan, has hinted he won’t send Trump to jail, and he can even join the hearing online.

Trump’s asking the Supreme Court to hit pause on the sentencing. He claims it’s a national security issue, saying it distracts him from his presidential duties right before he takes office.

Earlier today, the New York Court of Appeals let Trump know that his request was denied. No real reason was given, but it’s a tough break for him. Last May, a jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts for messing with business documents.

Just before the court’s announcement, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office told the Supreme Court that Trump’s claims don’t hold water. They argued the court doesn’t even have the power to step in.

Bragg’s team also pushed back against Trump’s idea that he’s somehow immune from state criminal processes just because he’s about to be president. They pointed out that this kind of immunity claim has never been backed by any court.

They also said there’s a strong public interest in moving forward with the sentencing. So, it looks like Trump’s got a tough road ahead.
