Superloop bus from Canary Wharf to Lewisham launches soon

London: Superloop 4 is about to hit the roads! This new express bus service will connect Canary Wharf to Grove Park in Lewisham, starting on April 7. Exciting, right?

What’s cool is that this launch coincides with the opening of the Silvertown tunnel. Buses will run every eight minutes, making it super convenient for commuters.

And guess what? This route is the last of ten Superloop routes being introduced. It’ll also stop at places like Lee, Blackheath, and Greenwich, so there’s plenty of access for everyone.

Plus, an existing bus route in Lewisham will be extended north of the river once the tunnel opens. Route 129 will now go all the way to Great Eastern Quay in Newham instead of just ending at the O2 in Greenwich.

New stops will include Silvertown, London City Airport, and Beckton, with buses running every eight minutes. Route 108 will still operate every ten minutes between Lewisham and Stratford via the Blackwall tunnel.

Transport for London has mentioned that these three routes will allow 21 buses to cross the river every hour, which is a huge increase in capacity.

Oh, and there’s more! A new bike shuttle service will also be available to help cyclists get through the 1.4km tunnel. It’ll run every 12 minutes, seven days a week from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM.

The bike shuttle will have two stops: one north of the river near Royal Victoria DLR station and another south of the river in Millennium Way. Pretty handy, right?

Paul Lynch, the Managing Director of Stagecoach London, expressed excitement about operating the new cycle-shuttle service. He mentioned they’re working hard to get their zero-emission buses ready in time.

And here’s a sweet deal: all three cross-river bus routes will be free for at least a year! This includes cross-river journeys on the DLR, making it a great time to explore.
