Suffolk: Residents are being warned about scam calls from people pretending to be police officers. These scammers claim there’s suspicious activity on your bank account.

Recently, Suffolk Police got at least four reports of these calls. Folks were told to verify the officers’ names and collar numbers they were given.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Adams from the fraud unit said, “Real police won’t call you asking to withdraw cash for them or transfer money to a different account.”

He also advised anyone unsure about a call to reach out to Suffolk Police directly, preferably using a different phone. It’s always better to double-check.

If you know any elderly or vulnerable people, make sure to share this info with them. It’s important they know to check with someone they trust if they get a call like this.
