Melbourne: A shocking incident unfolded in Caroline Springs when a known crime figure was shot. Hawre Sherwani, 33, was critically injured and later died in the hospital. This attack is believed to be linked to previous gang-related violence.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots on Heysen Park Way late Thursday night. The scene was chaotic, with bullet casings scattered everywhere. Police confirmed it was a targeted hit, and they are investigating connections to earlier incidents involving Sherwani.

Just last month, another associate of Sherwani, Robert Issa, was killed in a similar ambush outside a shopping center. That attack was part of ongoing tensions related to illegal tobacco trade in the area.

Detectives are looking into several previous attacks on Sherwani, including a shooting in March and an assault last July. They fear this latest killing could spark more violence among rival gangs.

Residents expressed shock, noting that their usually quiet neighborhood had never seen such violence before. One neighbor recalled how Sherwani had knocked on doors seeking help after being shot.

As police continue their investigation, they urge anyone with information to come forward. The community is on edge, hoping for a swift resolution to this troubling situation.
