Audley: So, there’s this 77-year-old guy named Glyn Minor who really scared his neighbours. He pointed an air pistol at them during a long-running argument about some land next to their homes.

This all went down on September 14, 2023, after some asbestos was dumped nearby. Minor got into a heated argument and even had chest pains. Paramedics showed up and told him to stay inside, but he didn’t listen.

Instead, he had a nasty exchange with one of his neighbours and even pushed him to the ground. The neighbour called the police, and Minor was told again to stay inside. But guess what? He went back out, armed with that air pistol.

The prosecutor said he pointed it at his neighbour, who was terrified for both his and his son’s safety. The neighbour and his son rushed inside their home, while a brave paramedic managed to grab the weapon from Minor.

When the police arrived, they found the black Smith and Wesson firearm with eight pellets in it. The neighbour was really upset by what Minor did, and his son was left feeling scared and uneasy.

Minor, who lives on Nantwich Road, pleaded guilty to two charges related to possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear. His lawyer mentioned that he has no prior convictions and that the whole thing stemmed from a long-standing boundary dispute.

Minor felt really ashamed and took full responsibility for his actions. The judge sentenced him to 19 months in prison, but it was suspended for a year. He also got a five-year restraining order, meaning he can’t contact his victims except through lawyers about the land issue.

The judge told Minor that his behaviour was completely out of line and dangerous. He called him “stubborn as a mule” for ignoring the paramedics’ advice. In the end, Minor was ordered to pay £250 to his neighbour and £500 in costs, and the air pistol was taken away.
