Stretham: Plans are in for a new anaerobic digestion plant. Pretoria Energy Company wants to build several tanks and a sub-station near Padro House.

Some locals are not happy. They worry about how it will look and smell. One resident from Lazy Otter Meadows expressed concerns about noise and lights at night.

The plant will use straw and rye as feedstock. After processing, it will create usable products without waste. The gas produced will go to the National Grid and fuel vehicles on-site.

A carbon capture system will ensure the gas meets industry standards.

The local parish council is worried about increased traffic on the A10. Neighbors also raised issues about access, safety, and odors.

Despite concerns, planning officers recommend approval. The planning committee will discuss it on February 5.
