Streatham: The new year kicked off with a bang as Streatham absolutely crushed the Oxford City Stars 12-0. It was a wild game, and the RedHawks were on fire!
They’ve been on a roll at home, winning nine games straight at the High Road. Oxford, on the other hand, has had a tough season, only managing four wins out of twenty. You could tell it was going to be a rough night for them.
Streatham wasted no time, scoring just two minutes in. Tomasz Skokan got the party started with help from Roman Cathcart and George Norcliffe. Oxford’s goalie, Ross Miller, faced a barrage of shots, and it was clear he was in for a long night.
Things just kept getting worse for the Stars. Damon Porter set up Norcliffe for the second goal, and then Harvey Stead scored right before the first period ended. The second period was more of the same, with Skokan netting his second goal shortly after the break.
Ryan Watt and Ziggy Beesley teamed up to score again, and it felt like the RedHawks were just toying with the Stars. Even with some great saves from Miller, the shots were heavily in favor of Streatham—54 to just 8!
In the third period, they switched goalies, but it didn’t help. Watt scored again just 29 seconds in, and Porter finally got his first goal for the team. The icing on the cake came when Ziggy Beesley scored, wrapping up the game at 12-0.
Streatham’s coach, Ben Paynter, was thrilled. He said it felt great to get back on the ice after the Christmas break and that the team played just the way he wanted. They’re looking forward to their next game against Invicta Dynamos this Saturday!
