A stomach ache during travel led to the discovery of heroin smuggling by two men at Perth Airport
Perth, Australia, Heroin, Drug Smuggling, Australian Federal Police
While they were going through their luggage, one of the men suddenly said he wasn’t feeling well and needed to go to the hospital. That’s when the paramedics got involved, and the Australian Federal Police jumped in to investigate.
Both men ended up at Perth Royal Hospital, and after a long wait, one of them managed to pass 30 pellets filled with heroin. The other guy wasn’t far behind, throwing up two pellets and then passing another 29 over the next day. Can you believe it? They were carrying a whopping 610 grams of heroin, which could have been sold for over $259,000 on the streets.
Authorities are really concerned about the risks these drug couriers take. If those pellets burst inside them, it could lead to a serious overdose. The AFP is working hard to stop drugs from reaching communities and to make sure air travel isn’t used for criminal activities.
The guys are now facing some serious charges, each looking at up to 25 years in prison. They were both remanded in custody and will be back in court soon. It’s a wild story that started with a simple stomach ache!
