Stoke-on-Trent: So, there’s this couple, Derrick and Tracey, who are pretty upset. They went on BBC’s Watchdog to share their story about trying to get back an £850 deposit. They had to cancel some work on their conservatory roof, and it’s been a real hassle.
It all started when a cold-caller showed up last March, offering them a free quote for a roof replacement. They thought, why not? But then, after paying the deposit, the company, Ecosave365, suddenly had doubts about the roof’s weight and whether the glass would fit.
Of course, they decided to cancel the job. But when Derrick tried to get their money back, he was met with excuse after excuse. Tracey said it left them feeling really hurt and upset. It’s just not right, you know?
Watchdog’s presenter, Nikki Fox, pointed out that since the company couldn’t fulfill the contract, they were legally required to refund the couple. But getting that refund has been a nightmare for them.
When Watchdog reached out to Ecosave365, they said they take complaints seriously and apologized for any delays. They mentioned they’ve been growing a lot lately and had some administrative hiccups. They promised they’re working on fixing things and have now completed their investigation, even claiming to have refunded affected customers.
It’s a tough situation, and it’s good that they’re getting some attention. If you want to catch the full story, you can check it out on BBC iPlayer.
