Massachusetts: TikTok users are feeling all sorts of emotions after the Supreme Court decided to uphold a ban that kicks in soon. It’s a big deal for many folks who rely on the app.
David Richard, who runs a PR firm and teaches at Emerson College, mentioned that this ban will hit three main groups: content creators, brands, and everyday users. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
One TikTok creator, Taylor Higgins, shared her feelings, saying, “I’m still in denial.” With around 200,000 followers, she uses TikTok to connect with people and share her experiences, especially about toxic relationships.
For her, TikTok is more than just an app; it’s a community where she finds healing and creativity. But it’s not just influencers who are worried. High school students are also feeling the pinch.
Some teens told Boston 25 that they’ll miss the jokes and memes, but others are trying to stay positive. Giselli Deoliveria mentioned that the ban might not be so bad since they’ll just find another platform to hang out on.
Richard pointed out that people are already checking out a new app called Red Note, which he describes as “TikTok on steroids.” So, it seems like the TikTok crowd isn’t giving up just yet.
He also noted that there’s still a chance a U.S. company could buy TikTok’s U.S. operations, so it’s not the end of the road. The parent company, ByteDance, has until Sunday to divest from TikTok, or it’ll be shut down.
For now, everyone’s just waiting to see what happens next. It’s a fluid situation, and the TikTok community is hoping for the best.
