Oakland: After a solid win against the Timberwolves, Steph Curry hopped on “Warriors Postgame Live” to chat about the game. He really shined in the fourth quarter, helping the Warriors secure a 113-103 victory.
During the interview, he took a moment to remember Rickey Henderson, the legendary former Oakland Athletic who sadly passed away recently. Curry expressed his condolences to Henderson’s family, saying how much the Bay Area has lost.
He shared, “Growing up in the Bay Area, what he did in Oakland really resonates with me. He represented the Bay at an iconic level. There’s nobody like him.” It’s clear that even though Curry didn’t watch Henderson play live, he still sees him as a huge inspiration.
Before the game, Curry even paid tribute by raising his arms with a ball, reminiscent of Henderson’s famous moment when he set the record for stolen bases. It’s a nice nod to the history and connection between the Bay Area’s sports teams.
It just shows how intertwined these franchises are, each with their own unique stories that have paved the way for today’s athletes.
