Southport: Axel Rudakubana, a convicted killer, won’t leave his prison cell. He was supposed to attend a court hearing about his life sentence.
Rudakubana, 18, was sentenced last month for a knife attack during a dance class. This incident happened in Southport, where he killed three young girls.
His lawyer, Carmel Wilde, informed the court that he refused to leave his cell. He didn’t want to attend the hearing or talk to his legal team.
The prosecutor, Deanna Heer KC, asked the judge to change his sentence. She wanted it adjusted since he was under 18 when he committed the crimes.
Judge Mr. Justice Goose explained that the hearing was to fix a technical error. He confirmed that Rudakubana’s sentence remains a life sentence, just categorized differently.
Rudakubana was sentenced to life with a minimum of 52 years. He pleaded guilty to murdering Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King, and Elsie Dot Stancombe.
He also admitted to attempting to murder eight other children and two adults. Additionally, he faced charges for possessing a knife and a biological toxin.
