South London Clubs Shine at Surrey Cross Country Championships

South London clubs showcased their talent at the Surrey Cross Country Championships, with impressive performances across various age categories

Croydon: This past Saturday, the Surrey County Cross Country Championships took place in Croydon at Lloyd Park. It was a chilly day, but over 900 athletes showed up to compete in various races ranging from two to seven-and-a-half miles.

Herne Hill Harriers had a fantastic day, winning gold medals in the U15 boys’ category and silver in several others. Caspian Holmes led the charge, taking home the individual title, while his teammates also performed admirably.

The U13 boys’ team also snagged silver, with Josiah Aldham and his crew finishing strong. The U17 women and U20 men’s teams faced tough competition but still managed to put in solid performances.

Hercules Wimbledon athletes also made their mark, with Benjy Street winning the U20 men’s title and leading his team to bronze. They had a strong showing across all age groups, collecting multiple medals.

Croydon Harriers, the hosts of the event, had some impressive finishes too, with Lucy Cole just missing out on a medal in the U17 category.

Overall, it was a great day for South London clubs, showcasing their talent and determination on a challenging course.
