South Kesteven: So, the council is looking at a one-off funding request from LeisureSK for £150,000 in their draft budget for 2025/26. This company runs leisure centres in Stamford, Grantham, and Bourne, and they need some temporary cash support.
The money is meant to help set up a new business structure for leisure services, which is supposed to kick off on April 1. It’s all part of a plan to make things run smoother.
This funding request is part of a bigger budget proposal that the council is working on. They presented it to a committee recently, and it’s all about making sure the leisure centres can keep operating effectively.
The report mentions that the council approved a new operating model for leisure services back in September. They’re planning to use an agency model, and this funding will help get that started.
Once everything is up and running, the council expects to recover that £150,000 during the next financial year. They’re also looking at a potential council tax increase, which will be discussed soon.
After the cabinet meeting, there will be a public consultation about the council tax options, and they’ll take feedback into account for their next meeting in February.
