South Fambridge: All Saints’ Church has become a hot topic in the community. Since October, locals have been worried about its potential closure due to dwindling attendance and expensive repairs.

The diocese has mentioned they’re looking into various options, but the Save Our All Saints Church group isn’t waiting around. They’ve rolled up their sleeves and started taking action.

These dedicated folks have been sprucing up the church grounds and working hard to get more people to attend services. They’re even organizing community events at this historic 178-year-old church.

Hannah Harmsworth, the campaign leader, is meeting with the Archdeacon today to discuss ways to keep the church open. She’s making a heartfelt final appeal to save the building.

Hannah shared, “It feels like we’re running out of time, and we really need the diocese to understand our situation.”

She continued, “We want to have a real conversation about how to save the church. We’ve been taking care of the churchyard and want it to remain a place of worship.”

Hannah’s family has deep ties to the church, and she worries about the future of the building. “If no one looks after it, what if it falls apart? We can’t let it get to that point. All Saints Church means so much to so many.”

Since the group got involved, attendance at Sunday services has jumped from just a few to a much healthier number. “We’ve been really active, even though I can’t make it every week,” she said.

Hannah added, “We’ve been spreading the word, and now we have a good mix of ages attending, from teens to seniors. Social media has helped a lot too.”

A spokesperson from the Diocese of Chelmsford mentioned they’re meeting with community members today. They assured everyone that regardless of what happens, the churchyard
