Irondequoit: So, this wild story just came out of New York. A guy named Richard Fluegel Jr. drove to a sheriff’s office parking lot to report that his dad was dead. Crazy, right?
His dad, Richard Fluegel Sr., had been missing for a bit. Family reported him missing on December 8. He was supposed to come home but never did. They even found his car parked about an hour away.
Then, on December 9, Fluegel Jr. called 911 from the sheriff’s lot. He told the operator he wanted to turn in a deceased body. Deputies rushed over, thinking it might be a medical emergency.
But when they searched his car, they found Fluegel Sr.’s body with gunshot wounds. It’s still unclear when the son actually shot his dad, but they were in a different town when it happened.
Fluegel Jr. got arrested the next day and is facing some serious charges, including felony murder. He’s stuck in jail without bail and has a couple of prior felony convictions.
During a news conference, the sheriff said this whole situation is just bizarre. He’s never seen anything like it in his career. They’re still trying to figure out what went down.
