Software Saves Enough Carbon for HGV to Travel the World 120 Times

Pontypool: A logistics company has come up with some pretty cool software that’s saving a ton of carbon emissions. It’s enough for a heavy goods vehicle to circle the globe 120 times!
Freight Logistics Solutions, or FLS for short, created this emissions management tool with a little help from the Welsh Government. They’ve managed to cut down 600,000 kilograms of carbon emissions, which is like driving 3.3 million miles.
FLS operates all over the UK, Europe, and beyond. They got some funding from the Welsh Government’s SMART Flexible Innovation Support scheme to help develop this nifty tool.
The software links customers to FLS’s network of vehicles, helping to find the most efficient carrier for their needs. This means less empty mileage, which is a win for everyone.
Rebecca Evans, the Welsh Government’s cabinet secretary for economy, energy, and planning, mentioned that they believe innovation can really improve lives in Wales, boost the economy, and protect the environment.
She added that FLS’s new software is all about moving and managing freight efficiently, showing a strong commitment to sustainability that fits with their Net Zero goals.
Ieuan Rosser, the CEO of FLS, emphasized that their custom technology, the FLS Freight Hub, is key to their operations. It’s a cloud-based platform that connects a network of 15,000 carriers and shippers.
He pointed out that sustainability is super important for businesses in freight, especially when it comes to tracking and managing emissions.
With the support of the Welsh Government, they’ve rolled out their emissions-focused platform. The FLS Emissions Manager provides accredited data for all freight movements, allowing for precise tracking and management of carbon emissions.
This tool offers actionable insights, helping businesses make environmentally friendly decisions. It’s a great step towards a greener future!
