Deptford: Sodo Pizza is the brainchild of Dan Birch, who aimed to create a lighter, healthier pizza dough. Now, they have six locations in London, including one right on Deptford High Street.
We recently checked out their new winter menu, featuring favorites like the Wicker Man pizza topped with pepperoni and nduja. Plus, they offer a selection of organic wines and locally sourced drinks.
As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by a cozy vibe with rustic seating and lots of plants. It’s the kind of place that just feels relaxed.
In the evenings, it gets even cozier with candles on every table. By 8 PM on a Saturday, the place was buzzing with people.
We kicked things off with drinks. They have a solid range of organic wines, ciders, beers, and some Italian-inspired cocktails. I tried the Ciello Bianco, which was fruity and sweet without being too tangy.
For starters, we shared some olives and their popular Burrata, which comes with a delicious hazelnut and sundried tomato pesto, plus bread for dipping.
Their pizzas are a real treat, with toppings you won’t find anywhere else. They have eight regular pizzas and daily specials if you’re feeling adventurous.
I went for the White Goat, topped with goat cheese, olives, caramelized onion, and chili honey. My friend chose the Lorena, which had tomato, mozzarella, butternut squash, feta, and pine nuts. Both were amazing!
The goat cheese paired with the honey was a match made in heaven, while the Lorena was creamy and slightly sweet thanks to the feta and squash.
And let me tell you, the pizza dough was light! No post-pizza bloat here, just pure enjoyment.
I loved the unique toppings and can’t wait to go back and try more.
We couldn’t leave without dessert, so we went for the Brownie with vanilla gelato and warm caramel sauce. It was gooey inside with a nice crunch outside.
The atmosphere was so laid back, and the location is super convenient, right next to Deptford Station.
Sodo Pizza is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5 PM to 10 PM, and Friday to Saturday from 12 PM to 10 PM.
