Louisville: The first big snow of 2025 might roll in on Sunday afternoon. But the National Weather Service isn’t sure how much snow we’ll actually get.
They’re pretty confident a winter storm is brewing in the central U.S. and will reach us later this weekend. Meteorologist Ryan Sharp mentioned that we could see either snow or a wintry mix.
Sharp also noted that it’s going to get colder, with temperatures dropping into the 20s and 30s. If a storm comes through, we could definitely see some wintry weather.
According to a report from the weather service, “significant winter precipitation appears likely” in the storm’s path. However, it’s tough to predict where the heaviest snow will fall.
Sharp advised everyone to make alternate plans, especially if you’re traveling. It’s better to be prepared just in case.
There’s also a chance of light snow or flurries in southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky. But this system should be more like the light snows we saw earlier this year.
More cold air from Canada is expected to hit Louisville mid-week, making it feel more like winter.
As for the upcoming week, Monday night looks like showers are likely, mainly after 2 a.m. Expect a low around 47 degrees.
On Tuesday, we might see showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 53. The chance of rain is pretty high at 90%.
Tuesday night brings a 40% chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low around 34. Then, on Wednesday, we’ll have partly sunny skies with a high near 39.
Thursday should be partly sunny too, with a high around 40. There’s a slight chance of snow showers late Thursday night.
Friday looks mostly sunny with a high near 35, and Friday night will be clear with a low around 21.
Saturday will be mostly sunny again, with a high near 32, but Saturday night could bring a 20% chance of snow showers.
Finally, on Sunday, expect rain and snow showers likely, with a high near 36 and a 60% chance of precipitation.
