Orlando: Can you believe it? Florida is actually facing some snow! A big blast of Arctic air is pushing down from Canada, and it’s bringing some seriously cold temps.

This cold snap is no joke. It’s one of the most intense we’ve seen in a decade. The polar vortex is reaching down south, and it’s going to get chilly, even in the tropics.

Mark your calendars for Monday, January 20. It could be one of the coldest days in years. They’re even moving the presidential inauguration indoors for the first time in 40 years because of the cold!

Most places east of the Rockies will be below freezing. The worst of it will hit the East Coast midweek. Even the Gulf Coast is in for a shock with subfreezing temps.

In Atlanta, Georgia, they’re expecting highs below freezing on Monday and Tuesday. That’s a big drop from the usual January temps, which are around 12°C.

And guess what? Florida isn’t escaping this cold either. Northern parts of the state could see freezing temps on Monday and Tuesday nights. Orlando’s high will only be about 10°C, way below the usual 22°C.

But wait, there’s more! Forecasters are keeping an eye on a potential winter storm. A storm system could form over Texas and move along the Gulf Coast, bringing snow and ice.

While it’s tough for snow to fall in this area, models are hinting at the possibility of snow and freezing rain reaching parts of northern Florida.

It’s been a while since places like Houston and Tallahassee saw measurable snow. The last time was during a historic cold snap back in February 2021 and January 2018, respectively.

Even a little bit of snow or ice could cause big problems since most towns in this region aren’t equipped to handle it. Remember the ice storm in Mobile back in January 2014? It caused quite a mess!

So, keep an eye on the weather, folks. This could be a wild week for Florida!
