Sneaky Act Over Alleged Tree Poisoning Sparks Controversy in Sydney
Bayside Council responds to tree poisoning claims with a unique solution

Sydney: So, there’s been some drama in Bayside. The council is dealing with claims that some trees were poisoned just so someone could have a better view of the ocean. Can you believe that?
They’re on it, though. The council announced they’re looking into the whole situation, checking out the vandalism along the foreshore. But here’s the kicker—they’ve put up a shipping container to block that “desired view.” Talk about a sneaky move!
They’re also planning to slap some big signs up to scare off any would-be vandals. Plus, they’ve got artist David Craig on board to turn that container into a mural. The council thinks it’ll keep the area lively and welcoming.
Locals have been buzzing about it online. Some folks are all for leaving the container as is, saying it’ll be a nice eyesore for the culprits. Others, though, aren’t too happy. They think the community shouldn’t have to deal with that ugly container.
One person even pointed out that nobody owns a view, not even the council. They want the council to dig deeper into the issue without making the community suffer through this container situation.
The council made it clear that messing with trees is a serious crime. If caught, offenders could face hefty fines, anywhere from $3,000 to a whopping $1 million. Yikes!
This isn’t the first time tree poisoning has made headlines in Sydney. Just this year, over 260 trees were illegally cut down or poisoned in Castle Cove. And last year, they were looking into another case in Monterey. It’s a real problem!
