Hawker: A small town in South Australia just experienced a 4.5 magnitude earthquake. It was reported by Geoscience Australia, and it really shook things up.

The quake hit about 10 kilometers below the surface near the Flinders Ranges National Park, which is roughly 325 kilometers north of Adelaide. It happened at 1:22 PM on Saturday.

After the main quake, there were two smaller ones measuring 2.9 and 3.1 magnitudes, occurring at depths of 3 and 7 kilometers.

Volcano Discovery mentioned that since the earthquake was shallow, many folks nearby likely felt it. Thankfully, it shouldn’t have caused much damage, just some stuff falling off shelves and maybe a few broken windows.

Initially, they thought it was a 5.0 magnitude quake, but that was adjusted after seismologists took a closer look at the data.

People all over South Australia took to social media to share their experiences, saying they felt tremors even hours later. Those living close to the epicenter described their homes shaking and a loud rumbling noise.
