Sixteen People Honored by Lord Lieutenant of Gwent in Cwmbran Ceremony

An awards ceremony in Cwmbran recognized sixteen individuals for their exceptional service and dedication.

Cwmbran: An awards ceremony happened on January 30 at Chapman VC House. It celebrated the hard work of many individuals.

Brigadier Robert Aitken presented the Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate of Merit. Staff Sergeant Paul Carter, Second Lieutenant Katie Marfell, and Sergeant Major Instructor Tyrone Gravell received this honor for their outstanding service.

Brigadier Aitken also recognized three cadets during the event. About 80 people attended to support the cadets and their achievements.

Cadet Sergeant Major Robert Lewis, Cadet Sergeant Major Thomas Wilson, and Cadet Warrant Officer Megan Hutton shared their experiences in the cadet program.

These cadets were chosen for the Lord-Lieutenant’s role after nominations from their leaders. They will represent the King at various official events for a year.

Staff Sergeant Paul Carter also received the King’s Coronation Medal. This medal honors those who served in the Armed Forces on May 6, 2023, during King Charles’ coronation.

Additionally, volunteer service awards were given to several instructors for their years of dedication. This includes Brendyn Metcalfe, Bryony Duggan, and Robin Lawlor.

Wales has nearly 5,000 cadets who learn valuable skills through community work and various activities.
