Swansea: Network Rail is set to do some important work soon. They will renew tracks and update signalling on the line to Llandrindod Wells.
This work will happen all day on February 15 and 16, with more on February 23. They want to keep disruptions to a minimum.
Rugby fans heading to the Wales vs. Ireland match in Cardiff can relax. Train services will run as planned on match day.
Nick Millington, the route director for Network Rail Wales and Borders, said they are focused on improving train service reliability. This work is part of that effort.
Millington acknowledged that closing the railway is never ideal. However, they have scheduled the work to reduce disruptions as much as possible.
They are also aware of rugby fans who depend on train services during Six Nations matches. So, there will be no engineering work on February 22.
He thanked passengers for their patience and advised them to check their journeys before traveling.
On February 15 and 16, Network Rail will replace 400 tonnes of ballast, 310 sleepers, and 550 metres of rail at Llanelli.
Additionally, they will perform essential signalling work at five level crossings and work on the Access For All footbridge at Llanelli station.
On February 23, they will replace nearly 500 tonnes of ballast, 423 sleepers, and over 800 metres of rail at Llandeilo, with follow-up work at Llanelli.
