Darlington: Simply Pleasure Limited, based at 71 Bondgate, is looking to renew its sex establishment licence. They filed the application with the Darlington Borough Council on December 30.
Timothy Hemming, who represents Simply Pleasure, submitted the request under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982. The goal is to keep the shop running as a sex shop.
The application follows specific rules that cover licensing for sex shops and similar venues. The council is in charge of deciding whether to grant or deny these licences.
If anyone wants to object to the application, they can do so. The notice from Simply Pleasure says objections should be sent in writing to the council’s licensing department, explaining the reasons for the objection.
All objections need to be in by January 27. They can be sent to Darlington Borough Council, Licensing, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington DL1 5QT.
In other news, there are virtual hearings coming up for the Byers Gill Solar Development. This project, located between Darlington and Stockton, includes a solar farm that produces over 50 megawatts of electricity.
The hearings will focus on specific issues related to the development and any compulsory acquisition matters. Anyone interested can join in.
The solar farm spans about 490 hectares and is divided into six panel areas. Details on how to attend the hearings are available in the Examining Authority’s Rule 13 letter.
On a different note, Coco N Food Ltd has also applied for a new premises licence for Wok N Roll in Bishop Auckland. They want to sell alcohol on-site from noon to 11 PM, seven days a week.
People can check out the full application at Annand House in Durham by appointment during weekdays. Any objections need to be submitted by February 5, 2025.
