Dunfermline: So, there was this really disturbing incident where a disabled Raith Rovers fan got attacked by a group of thugs. It all went down after a game last January, and honestly, it’s just heartbreaking.
The fan, Kieren Ross, who’s only 18, was just waiting for a bus when this gang came out of nowhere. Two guys, Mackenzie King and Callum Beautyman, were later convicted for the attack. They got some community service and a curfew instead of jail time, which feels a bit light, right?
The footage is just awful. You see Kieren curled up on the ground, trying to protect himself while they kick and punch him. It’s hard to watch, and you can hear the horrible things they were shouting at him.
At one point, he’s trying to find his hearing aids that got knocked out during the chaos. It’s just so sad to see someone treated like that. Even the goalkeepers from both teams were upset about it, saying how terrible it was for Kieren.
It’s a reminder that we need to do better in keeping fans safe at games. No one should have to go through something like this, especially not someone like Kieren, who just wanted to enjoy the match.
