Queensland: So, there’s this really disturbing story coming out of Queensland. Police are sounding the alarm after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly groomed online and then assaulted by a man who lived a couple of hours away.
They say this 29-year-old guy from the Sunshine Coast was chatting with her on social media. Then, on December 16, he drove to meet her in a town in the South Burnett area.
Things took a terrible turn shortly after they met. The police claim he committed several serious offenses, including rape and indecent treatment of a child under 12.
Thanks to an investigation by the Kingaroy Child Protection team, they managed to track him down. They executed a search warrant at his place in Mount Coolum, which is over 200 kilometers away.
He was arrested there and also charged with having dangerous drugs and drug utensils. The guy was denied bail and is set to appear in court on December 31.
In light of this, Queensland police are urging parents to keep a close eye on their kids’ online activities. They’re stressing the importance of being aware of the dangers that lurk on social media.
