Shrewsbury, England, Richard Forbes, Comet, Dog Attack
Shrewsbury: A man named Richard Forbes has been jailed for killing a dog. The dog, Comet, was a beloved pet of his landlady. Forbes stabbed the elderly Pomeranian multiple times, causing severe injuries.
Comet was rushed to an emergency vet, but sadly, they had to euthanize him. Forbes, 46, attacked his landlady after a night of drinking. She managed to escape to a neighbor’s house.
Police arrived just in time to see Forbes trying to drive away in her car. While in custody, he bragged about hurting Comet, who was found with multiple stab wounds.
On January 31, Forbes was sentenced for this crime and other offenses. He had previously assaulted several people, leaving one man seriously injured. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including animal cruelty.
The judge sentenced him to seven and a half years in prison. He also received a 30-year ban on owning animals and a 10-year restraining order against his landlady. He was disqualified from driving for six years.
Detective Constable Geoff Anslow called the case horrendous. He emphasized the cruelty shown to Comet, a much-loved pet. The community hopes this sentence brings some justice for Comet and his owner.
