Boston: The Celtics are in a bit of a slump lately. They might be thinking about bringing back Lonnie Walker IV for some much-needed energy.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Celtics are one of five teams interested in Walker. He’s currently playing in Lithuania but can be bought out of his contract anytime before mid-February.

Walker has a bit of history with the Celtics. He joined them for training camp but was waived before the season started. He’s a fan of the team, having grown up watching them, and said wearing their jersey was a big deal for him.

Last season, he averaged nearly 10 points per game with the Brooklyn Nets and has been doing well overseas, averaging about 15 points in his current league. He could really help the Celtics off the bench.

However, the Celtics let him go partly due to money issues. His contract could have cost them a lot more if they didn’t make some cuts. They also have an open roster spot, which gives them some flexibility.

Another player, Jaden Springer, got a chance to step up after Walker was released. But he hasn’t played much this season, which could open the door for Walker’s return.

If the Celtics decide to trade Springer for a draft pick, they could then sign Walker while keeping that open spot. But they have to be careful; other teams are interested in him too.

Right now, the Celtics are doing well, sitting second in the Eastern Conference. They might wait a bit to see how things unfold before making a move on Walker.

Boston’s next game is against the Toronto Raptors at home, so fans will be watching closely to see how the team performs.
