Kidderminster: So, there’s this guy, Craig Sawyer, who’s been causing quite a stir. He’s now banned from all Boots stores and the whole county of Worcestershire after a court appearance.
This 51-year-old, who’s got no fixed address, was caught red-handed at a Co-op in Malvern. He’s been dubbed ‘Satchel Man’ because he used disguises to pull off his heists.
He racked up a whopping £28,000 in thefts from Boots stores across the country. Can you believe that? He was found guilty of 16 counts of theft, mostly from Boots, and got a 42-week prison sentence.
His sneaky tactics included dyeing his hair and wearing glasses to change his look. But he always carried his favorite brown shoulder bag, which gave him away.
On top of that, he got an extra 22 weeks in prison for some other thefts in Uttoxeter. Now, he’s got a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order that keeps him out of Worcestershire and all Boots stores.
Local police are pretty pleased with themselves. They worked closely with retail staff to catch this guy, and it seems their efforts paid off. They’re hoping this will help keep the stores safer in the future.
