Canterbury: A guy named Brandon Mathews filmed himself throwing his ex-girlfriend’s cat across the room. He thought it would make her come back to him. Instead, she sent the video to the police, and he got arrested.
This all went down on December 5, 2023. Mathews was trying to get his ex to return from a women’s refuge. He was really manipulative, demanding she come back for her cat. The video he sent was just awful.
In the clip, you can hear him yelling at her while he picks up the cat by its neck and throws it. It’s just heartbreaking. Thankfully, the cat was okay, and the RSPCA said it didn’t have any lasting injuries.
Mathews ended up in court, where he admitted to animal cruelty and sending an offensive message. He also had some shoplifting charges for stealing protein powder and food. His lawyer said he was struggling with personal issues, including ADHD and the loss of his father.
In the end, the court decided he needed to serve time for what he did. He got a 10-week sentence and had to pay back the stores he stole from. It’s a tough situation all around, but at least the cat is safe now.
