Before the first Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on this bill, he made it clear that the opposition, including the INDIA Alliance, is against it. Raut stated that this bill could ultimately push us toward a system where only one party and one leader hold power.
Today, the JPC is meeting to dive deeper into the bill. Raut confirmed that members of the opposition will be there to voice their concerns. He emphasized that everyone in the alliance is committed to participating in this important discussion.
On the other side, BJP leader PP Chaudhary, who chairs the JPC, is optimistic about finding common ground among committee members. He mentioned that they aim to hear from all sides, including political parties and civil society, to ensure a fair examination of the bill.
Chaudhary also noted that the concerned ministry would provide a briefing on the first day of the meeting. He stressed the importance of transparency and collaboration to reach a consensus that serves the nation’s best interests.
The JPC will look into the One Nation One Election Bill, which includes members from various parties, such as Congress and NCP, ensuring a diverse range of opinions in the discussions.
