Shildon: This morning, a fire broke out at the PM Racing Team motorbike shop on Church Street, and it was a real mess. The place is totally unrecognizable now.
Five fire engines rushed over, and the shop owner was outside, safe but watching his business go up in flames. It’s heartbreaking.
Photos show the back of the shop, where the fire started, now just a pile of charred remains and burnt bikes. It’s tough to look at.
Locals gathered around, shocked at what they saw. One guy, Michael, said it was the worst thing he’s ever seen in Shildon. He even helped direct traffic to let the firefighters through.
He was worried about the vintage bikes but was relieved to see some of them come out okay. The owner was smiling, even amidst all the chaos.
Aik, who runs a barbershop nearby, said he heard about the fire while cutting hair. He ran out to see what was happening, and by then, it was a huge blaze.
Kelly, who works at a sunbed shop, saw the smoke and said it was just awful. She heard a loud bang and felt so sorry for the owner, who’s been in business for 22 years.
She couldn’t hold back her tears, saying it was devastating. The community is really coming together to support him during this tough time.
Church Street is back open, but the shop is still cordoned off. The fire service got the call at 10:12 am and sent five fire engines to tackle the flames.
