Cardiff: Shane Williams is really excited about Dan Edwards, the young Ospreys playmaker. He thinks Edwards has done everything right to catch the attention of the Wales selectors ahead of the Six Nations announcement.

Even though he’s been on fire for the last 18 months, the 21-year-old still hasn’t earned his first senior cap. But with the way he’s playing, he’s a solid pick for Warren Gatland’s squad.

Things got a bit tricky for Sam Costelow, who hurt his shoulder in a recent match. Plus, Gareth Anscombe from Gloucester is also dealing with a knee issue, which could open the door for Edwards.

Edwards really shone in the Ospreys’ recent 35-15 win over Newcastle Falcons. Williams mentioned that Costelow’s injury might actually work in Edwards’ favor. He was under a lot of pressure, but he handled it well.

Williams noted how tidy Edwards was, managing the game and staying safe under high balls. Sure, he made a few mistakes, but he bounced back each time, which is impressive.

He even set up a try with a perfect pass that helped Jack Walsh score. Edwards kicked 10 points and showed great vision, getting his teammates into space.

However, former Wales Women’s player Elinor Snowsill thinks Edwards could improve his game management. She pointed out that he struggled a bit at the start of both halves, mainly because the Ospreys weren’t keeping possession.

But once they started to play through the phases, their game really picked up, leading to some great moments on the field.
