Burnley: Just over a week after the fire at Shaf’s Chippy, Mohammed Shafiq is feeling the weight of the loss. He called it “truly heartbreaking.”
The shop has been shut down since the blaze on January 9, but thankfully, no one got hurt. That’s a relief, at least.
Mohammed shared some updates about the damage inside the Bridge Street location. It’s pretty rough to see what’s happened.
Even though the last few days have been tough, he’s still holding onto hope for the future of his business.
He mentioned, “Standing here seeing it with my own eyes, my business that I have built up since 2013, is truly heartbreaking.”
He added, “This has been an incredibly difficult time for me, my family, and most importantly my staff as we are trying to come to terms with the loss of something we have poured our heart and soul into building.”
The safety of everyone is what matters most, and he’s grateful that no one was harmed. While the physical shop is gone, the spirit of Shaf’s Chippy is still alive. They’re determined to rebuild and come back even stronger.
“We’ll keep you updated on our plans moving forward, and we are hopeful for what the future holds,” he said.
