Yarm: Big news for the local area! Stockton Council has given the green light for some important upgrades to the sewerage works. They’re planning to extend the existing facilities with new underground installations. Sounds like a smart move, right?

Northumbrian Water Ltd is behind this project. They wanted to change an agricultural field into a sewerage treatment area. This includes adding a balancing storage tank, a pumping station, and other necessary equipment. It’s all about improving the service for everyone.

The council’s report mentioned that this upgrade is part of a larger plan to enhance the sewerage treatment works between Kirklevington and Yarm. They’re also adding a new access track to make things easier.

Interestingly, there were no objections from the public or local councils. Even the Environment Agency chimed in, giving advice on managing surface water and preventing pollution. They want to make sure everything is safe for the community and the environment.

Plus, the council noted that the changes would be mostly underground, so they don’t expect any negative impact on nearby homes. It’s good to know that they’re considering the local residents while making these upgrades.

They even looked into the history of the site, finding some old pottery and glass during an archaeological survey. But nothing major was uncovered, so they’re all set to move forward.

So, it looks like Yarm is getting some essential upgrades that will benefit everyone in the long run. Exciting times ahead!
