Glasgow: Seven people have been sentenced for their roles in a shocking child abuse ring. Their prison terms range from eight to 20 years, which is pretty serious.

The group included two women and five men, and they were found guilty of some truly awful crimes. They gang-raped a child and abused others in a place where drugs like heroin and crack cocaine were rampant.

The trial lasted about eight weeks, and the evidence was described as “harrowing.” The judge, Lord Beckett, said it was one of the worst cases he had seen.

The crimes took place between 2012 and 2019, affecting three children. Some of the accused even tried to murder a child by trapping her in a microwave. Can you believe that?

Sentencing was delayed for risk assessments, which shows how serious the judge took this. The offenders will be monitored for life after their release, which is a good thing.

The sentences varied: Owens got 20 years, Lannery 17, and others received different terms based on their specific crimes. It’s a relief to see justice served, but it’s heartbreaking to think about what those kids went through.
