Evening Closures Planned on A180 in Grimsby for Bridge Repairs
Grimsby will see several evening closures on the A180 for bridge work over the next two months
Grimsby, A180, Bridge Work, North East Lincolnshire
Grimsby: So, there’s going to be a bunch of evening closures on the A180. This is all part of the ongoing bridge work. They’re replacing the bearings under the Gilbey Road flyover, which means they’ll need to shut it down in both directions for a few evenings over the next couple of months.
The council mentioned that while they’ve set aside four hours for each closure, from 8 PM to midnight, it probably won’t take that long. So, fingers crossed it goes smoothly!
Here are the confirmed dates for the closures: January 17, January 20, January 24, January 27, February 21, February 24, March 3, and March 5. Mark your calendars if you travel that way!
They started working on the bearings back in November. It’s a bit of a process, using special machinery to lift the bridge just enough to swap out the bearings before lowering it back down.
This whole A180 bridges project kicked off last February. They’re doing some “vital structural repairs” on the Gilbey Road flyover, Alexandra Dock bridge, and Cleethorpe Road flyover. The goal is to make sure this main road can handle traffic safely for years to come.
