Geelong: So, there’s this Australian serial killer named Gregory Brazel, right? He’s been locked up for nearly 25 years and recently tried to get a frypan in his cell. Crazy, huh?

Brazel is serving three life sentences for killing three women. He took the State of Victoria to court, saying he was pressured into a settlement last year. The guy’s 70 now and not in great health.

Back in the day, he murdered two prostitutes while on parole for armed robbery. Then, he confessed to killing a shopkeeper in 1982. That case was cold until he spilled the beans to the cops.

Last year, he went to the Victorian Court of Appeal to challenge a lower court’s decision about his settlement with the state. He had previously sued them, claiming he got hurt when they used a chemical agent on him in 2013.

The whole thing dragged on forever because he accused prison staff of messing with his legal mail. After some back-and-forth, he settled for some cash and a few kitchen gadgets for his diet.

But then he flipped and said the government promised him a frypan, which he was told he couldn’t have. So, he went back to court to get the settlement tossed out.

In a recent ruling, the judge shot down his claims. Brazel argued he was bullied into the settlement and that he didn’t get proper legal advice. But the judge wasn’t buying it.

Justice Kaye said Brazel seemed capable of looking out for himself during negotiations. He’s got a history of trouble in prison, too, including taking a guard hostage. He might get parole at the end of March, but who knows?
