Serial Animal Cruelty Offender Has 53 Cats Removed from Property

A woman previously banned from owning cats faces new charges after 53 cats were found in her care, many suffering from health issues

Ararat: So, there’s this woman named Christine Weisheit who’s really in hot water again. She was already banned from having more than five cats, but guess what? Inspectors found 53 cats at her place, and many of them were sick or underweight.

The RSPCA swooped in and took the cats, including six little kittens, from her property in Victoria. This all happened on a Thursday, and it’s not the first time she’s been in trouble. Back in December, a court told her she couldn’t own more than five cats for life.

It turns out this is her second time breaking that court order. The RSPCA said a lot of the cats were in pretty bad shape. They’ve been taken to the vet to get treated for flu, skin issues, and malnourishment. Once they’re all better, they hope to find them new homes.

And it’s not just cats; she’s also banned from having more than five horses. Back in 2016, inspectors found a bunch of starving horses on her property, and they had to seize over 100 of them. Sadly, two of those horses had to be put down.

The RSPCA has been dealing with this woman for years. They’ve removed over 380 animals from her since 2014, and it’s costing them a fortune. This year alone, they expect to spend more than $10.7 million just to keep their inspectorate running.

It’s a tough situation, and the RSPCA is really pushing for people to follow court orders. Every animal deserves a good home and proper care, right?
