Sentencing Delayed for Man Who Planned to Kill Lawyer on Dark Web
A man’s sentencing for plotting to kill a lawyer has been postponed due to bed availability issues at a hospital
Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, Dark Web, Murder Plot, Martin Ready
Coatbridge: So, there’s this guy, Martin Ready, who was supposed to be sentenced for trying to kill a lawyer. But guess what? The court had to postpone it again. They’re waiting to see if there’s a hospital bed available for him.
Ready, 42, was found guilty of trying to hire a hitman using Bitcoin on the dark web. He thought he was being all sneaky, but it turned out to be a scam. He paid over £5,000 for this wild plan.
During the trial, he claimed he was “evil Jesus” and thought the murder would help expose organized crime in his hometown. Crazy, right? He and the lawyer, Darren Harty, actually knew each other from a pub.
Even though he denied the charges, the jury wasn’t buying it. They found him guilty, and he’s been held at HMP Barlinnie. He was supposed to get sentenced in Edinburgh, but the hearing got pushed back because they couldn’t confirm if a bed was free at the hospital.
His lawyer, Brian McConnachie, said they were just going in circles trying to figure this out. There’s been some confusion about a letter from a doctor that nobody has seen yet. It’s all a bit of a mess.
The judge, Lady Hood, said they can’t make any decisions until they know for sure if a bed is available. So, they’ve set a new date for sentencing on January 28. Fingers crossed they get it sorted by then!
