Plymouth: Devon and Cornwall Police seized money from Andrew Tate, a controversial YouTuber. They plan to use this money to help victims of violence against women and girls.

This announcement was made during a Crime Panel meeting. The Devon and Cornwall Crime Commissioner, Alison Hernandez, praised the police for their hard work.

In December, a court ordered the Tate brothers to forfeit £2.8 million. This followed an investigation into their failure to pay taxes on £21 million earned from their online businesses.

Last July, a police representative called the Tate brothers “serial tax and VAT evaders.” They claimed Andrew Tate openly refused to pay taxes while living in England.

The Chief Magistrate described their financial activities as a “straightforward cheat of the revenue.” Hernandez expressed satisfaction with the seizure of the funds.

She mentioned that £1.2 million of the seized money would support policing efforts in Devon and Cornwall. They hope to use some of it for initiatives against violence towards women and girls.

The police inquiry revealed that the funds were held in seven frozen bank accounts. The court also mentioned a third person involved in the case.

The Tate brothers face separate criminal allegations in Romania, including human trafficking and rape. They are expected to be extradited to the UK after those proceedings.

Bedfordshire Police have an international arrest warrant for the brothers related to past allegations. They deny all charges against them.
