Kingussie: So, here’s the scoop. Two more lynx cats were caught in the Scottish Highlands after being left behind. This happened just a day after another pair was rescued in the same area.
It was a team effort by Police Scotland and the rangers from the Cairngorms National Park Authority. They managed to catch the lynx around 6:30 PM on Friday in the Dell of Killiehuntly.
Interestingly, this is the same spot where the first two lynx were trapped the day before. The Highland Wildlife Park even shared the good news on social media, saying the newly captured lynx seem to be in good health.
They mentioned it’s been a hectic 48 hours, with folks working around the clock in tough conditions to get the job done. Now, the animals are being looked after by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
Police are still trying to figure out how these lynx ended up there in the first place. The RZSS chief, David Field, was pretty clear about how wrong it is to release these animals illegally. He said it was a reckless move that could have put both the lynx and the public at risk.
Initially, they were called ‘The KillieHuntly Two’ after the area where they were found. There’s a project called Lynx to Scotland that aims to bring these beautiful creatures back to the Highlands, but they’re not happy about these illegal releases.
Peter Cairns from the project said that such irresponsible actions only make their work harder. It’s a real shame when people don’t think about the consequences for the animals and the environment.
