Waltham Forest: So, it turns out a second guy, Adeel Khan, has been charged for helping Daniel Khalife escape from prison. This all went down after Khalife made his break from HMP Wandsworth back in September 2023.

Khalife, who’s just 23, was found guilty of spying for Iran in a trial that wrapped up in November 2024. The jury at Woolwich Crown Court decided he had violated some serious laws, including the Official Secrets and Terrorism Acts. He admitted to escaping but got cleared of a bomb hoax charge.

Khan, who’s 30, is also in trouble for having a phone in prison, which is a big no-no. He got charged through the mail earlier this month and is set to show up at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 14.

Oh, and there’s also Imran Chowdhury, a 25-year-old from Chingford, who’s facing similar charges for helping Khalife escape. He was in court on January 7 and pleaded not guilty.

During his brief court appearance, he confirmed his details while dressed in a white shirt and black jumper. The judge, Briony Clarke, mentioned that the charges are too serious for the magistrates’ court, so he’s been released on bail and will be back in court on February 4.
