The family of Sean Brown continues their long battle for justice and answers regarding his tragic death nearly 27 years ago

It was the 57th time Mrs. Brown attended court in her quest for answers about her husband’s death. After the hearing, she expressed her exhaustion and urged the Secretary of State, Hilary Benn, to do the right thing.
Sean was shot after being taken from the Bellaghy Wolfe Tones GAA club. There are claims that state agents were involved in his death. Mr. Benn is appealing a previous court ruling that mandated a public inquiry, arguing that the ruling was legally incorrect.
Clare Loughran, Sean’s daughter, emphasized that a public inquiry is the only way forward. She pointed out that they’ve been to court 57 times and that two high court judges have already called for an inquiry to uncover the truth about her father’s murder.
Clare also mentioned that the Chief Constable of the PSNI wouldn’t oppose a public inquiry. She expressed confusion over why the Secretary of State continues to appeal the decision, especially considering her mother’s age and the long journey they’ve been on.
They just want the truth, which has always been their goal. Clare hopes this appeal will bring them closer to a public inquiry. She reiterated that her father was innocent and that they’ve faced a lot over the years, but they’re not giving up.
The family’s solicitor, Niall Murphy, stated that Mr. Benn needs to recognize the legal and political realities surrounding this case.
