Highlands: Seals are back at Sandy Hook, and it’s a sight to see! These chilly-water mammals have been spotted in Raritan Bay and the Atlantic Ocean off New York and New Jersey, according to the American Littoral Society.

Just like in past years, they’re organizing guided seal hikes at Sandy Hook. It’s only $20, or $10 if you’re a member. Just make sure to register at littoralsociety.org.

There are some cool dates coming up for these hikes, like January 11 and January 25. They run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 10 a.m. to noon, respectively. The meeting point is 18 Hartshorne Drive in Highlands, New Jersey.

If you’re up for a boat ride, you can hop on a Seastreak ferry for seal and bird ecology cruises. These trips take you to Sandy Hook and nearby spots where you can see seals and other wildlife. They’re happening on select weekends from January to March.

Each cruise has experts from the American Littoral Society on board to help identify species and share info. Tickets are $55 for adults and $30 for kids under 12. You’ll meet at 326 Shore Drive in Highlands.

There are several cruise dates, including January 12 and 18, with various departure times. It’s a great way to enjoy the winter and see some amazing wildlife!

Harbor seals are common along New Jersey’s beaches, especially from Cape May to Sandy Hook. They love the cold waters full of fish. Over the years, the seal population at Sandy Hook has really grown, and you might even spot grey and harp seals lounging around.

So, if you’re looking for a fun winter adventure, grab your friends and check out these seal watching tours!
