Glasgow: So, a bunch of students from Turnbull High School just had a wild experience on their way back from a ski trip in Italy. They were at Milan Bergamo Airport when things went sideways. Apparently, some of them decided to swipe a few items, which led to a big fuss.
Security had to step in, and the flight was stuck on the runway. Can you imagine? The teachers were totally blindsided by the whole thing. They only found out when security showed up and said the school had to cough up €800 for the missing stuff before they could leave.
One parent shared how shaken up the other kids were. They were just trying to enjoy their trip home, and then bam! They were faced with this drama. It’s not what you expect from a school with such a good reputation.
Now, the parents of the seven teens involved are being asked to pay back the teacher who had to cover the costs. It’s a real mess. The parent I spoke to was frustrated, saying the kids involved are back on the football team like nothing happened. No consequences at all!
They feel it sends the wrong message. The kids who didn’t do anything wrong were upset, and the parents think there should have been some serious repercussions. It’s just not right.
Turnbull High is known for its high standards, so this incident has left staff feeling embarrassed. They expect better from their students, especially the older ones. Thankfully, the police didn’t have to get involved, but it’s raised some eyebrows about future trips.
East Dunbartonshire Council is looking into it, and the Chief Education Officer said they’re taking it seriously. They’re in touch with parents to figure out what to do next. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
